The #SaferToBeMe 2025 organising committee has extended the deadline to 23.59 UK time on Friday 25th April for speaker proposals and papers on topics of interest for the two-day summit happening 23rd-25th October in Newcastle, North East England, as part of a week-long programme of global activities.
It is an unrivalled opportunity to present to a global audience of influencers and activists in-person and online, streamed across the world.
Both days will have parallel talks, workshops, and sessions, based around the following two parallel threads:
Thread 1: Local to national LGBTQI+ issues in the United Kingdom.
Thread 2: Global LGBTQI+ issues.
Although there has been exceptional interest from applicants, we are still particularly keen to encourage proposals for topics that fall within the UK stream of the summit but proposals for either stream are welcome.
The tone of presentations should not be overly academic and should use lay language avoiding technical terms wherever possible. Although there has been exceptional interest from applicants, we are still particularly keen to encourage proposals for topics that fall within the UK stream of the summit but proposals for either stream are welcome
If you are submitting a paper for consideration, please have an idea of which thread you will submit it under. Our Call for Papers has several examples of topics that we feel would be of interest to participants and the LGBTQ+ communities across the world.
Please also tell us, on the online form, whether you wish to present online from your nation state, or face-to-face, or if you can do either.
